Week 4 Comprehension

Reflection on Weeks 1-5
During the past 5 weeks I have created 1 task on my topic “How can I use my knowledge of language learning to contribute to my community?”
First I researched using the net and found an article that provided background information to help me understanding of the issues related to language learning.
With this information, I created a summary on the topic and posted this on my blog page. This helped my understanding and provided me with more information to move to the next stage on Blooms.
During the “comprehension” stage I created my second task about learning language post of interview sheet. Photos/ create a survey/ embed a visual snapshot to show the audience my understanding of the topic. We were asked to record our summaries as a video and embed the file into our blog page to demonstrate our oral language skills and ability to master intonation and expression. I found this difficult to do at first but Jae Jun, Nini, Katty, and Fransisca were able to assist me and I was pleased with the final product.
Now I am preparing for the next stage of Blooms “ application” and I am deciding how I will design my next task that could include an interview, a simulation, a presentation using IT tools and illustration.
It’s time for me now to plan my next task so please check my blog on Friday and post a comment.

Why should I learn a language?
There are many reasons to learn foreign languages, because the foreign languages are needed from working, romance, travel and communication.
Which languages should we learn?
Before we learn, we have to decide what language is the most useful for us. For example, we can’t just learn Chinese, when we are going to Japanese University.
What do I need to study languages??
There are wide range of materials and tools that are available, such as dictionaries, grammar books, online lessons, mp3 player, languages courses and translator.
How can I use my knowledge of language learning to contribute to my community??
I can use my knowledge of language learning to contribute to my community by teaching them and make them understand about the uses of languages and how easy we can learn. However, we had to understand and mastered the language before we teach them professionally. We can make them learn easily by online learning, reading books, watch educational videos, self-assessment, worksheets and story reading. Lets motivate them and us.

All About Blooms
Knowledge
I think Ponyboy has qualities to be a hero in this book for different reasons. First, he stands by his friends through the good and the bad. And also, he could change them into good from bad. For example, when Johnny killed one of the Socs, although Johnny killed because of Ponyboy, Ponyboy stayed all the way with Johnny until he dies in the end. Secondly, he saved the kids from burning church, although the kids were the strangers who don't have any relationships with. Third, when he went to the rumble between Socs and Greasers, he did his best to win, even though he wasn't in a really good condition.
In these cases, he showed his loyalty to his friends, also heroic side to the kids and mostly his friendship with Johnny.

Day 1 - Pony jumped by the Socs after he watched movie
Day 2- Pony, Johnny and Dally met two socs girls and became closer.
Day 3- Ponyboy went home late, Dally hit him, The Socs attacked Pony and Johnny and Johnny stabbed one of the Socs.
They ran away to the church with gun and money from Dally.
Day 4- Stayed in church
Day 5- Stayed in church
Day 6- Stayed in Church
Day 7-8: Stayed in Church
Day 9 - The greasers saved the kids from burning church and they got hurt so badly.
Day 10 - Johnny, Pony and Dally stayed at hospital and The gangs came to the hospital
Day 11- Johnny Died and Dally dies too.
Application
If I were in the situation of Ponyboy was getting drowned, I would just pulled apart people from fight and bully. That could work actually, because its still better than just going to the jail, also, we can just stop it easily by talking.
Analysis-
Ponyboy - He is the main character of this story and the youngest of the greasers with the age of 14. Because, his parents have died in a car accident, he lives with his brothers, Darry and Soda. He loves Sodapop but he doesn’t really get along with his oldest brother, Darry.
He is kind, friendly with loyalty. He had major problems such as saving the kids and got hit by Darry.

Evaluation
I would like to spend a day with Sodapop, because he always makes people smile by him. And also, he is humorous. I just like to smile all day long with funny stories going between Sodapop and I.

School Term 3 Break
The holiday from our school was quite short, but because it was just a term break, I had to follow and understand with it. However, for me, I didn’t really enjoy the break, because there were so many home works from all kinds of subjects. There were lots of projects too. The definition of holiday for me is a day of festivity with no works to do. But due to this break, I felt that my definition of holiday was totally wrong. Although I had to do many projects, I decided to meet up with all the Korean boys from our school, SWA and exercise together, which were soccer, basketball, badminton, table tennis and swimming to be closer with them. That day was the only holiday for me during this break. I was really exhausting from the homework during this holiday!! I need a REAL holiday that is similar with my definition.

Reflection about the different types of sentences
Last ESL lesson, We learnt about different types of sentences and predicate. I was confusing at the first time about the predicate, but after Ms, Dianne explained to us with the slideshow, I could understand easily.
A sentence must contain a subject and predicate. For example; I am studying at SWA. In this sentence, the subject is "I" and the predicate is " am studying at SWA". She also explained different types of sentences, which are simple sentence, compound sentence and complex sentence. A simple sentence is also called an independent clause. A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined by a co-ordinator. A complex sentence has an independent clause joined one or more dependent clauses. Ms. Dianne was explaining with the examples, so we could learn and try it easily than just looking at our own grammar book.
I think this lesson plan worked very well on us and we enjoyed the activities that Ms. Dianne gave us as a worksheet. And also, we could learn and understand the differences between the types of sentences.

(ESL PROJECT) THE Power OF WORLD
I made a video about the topic Hunger which is the one of the gl0bal issues. It took around 7 hours to make this video using iMovie, because it was first time using is and of course it was really memorable and impressive experience for me. Please Enjoy :P
THis is a poster that I made after I made a video to get people feel about them first before they watch a video. This poster was also made with tenderness.
First of all, I enjoyed and learnt so many things about iMovie and world hunger. At the beginning of this project, I was quite confused what to do with the iMovie because I was making a project with the iMovie for the first time in my life. Apparently, iMovie looked really simple and easy to make it. However, in reality it was really difficult to make. So, it took total 8 hours to make one project.
When Ms. Dianne gave the class pieces of paper, we realized that it’s a project because the paper had a strong impact on me with the powerful images about global issues. Unsurprisingly, I started to find some powerful images about world hunger to persuade myself first before persuade others’, because I thought that if this topic and my work even couldn’t persuade me, it couldn’t persuade others too.
At that moment, the powerful images persuaded me so much with the pathetic feeling of them and I decided to make a wonderful project movie with my all heart and make people to have a feeling like me and give and help save a lives who is having a big hunger problem.
When I was making a video for the world hunger persuasive campaign, I thought it deeply to my heart that we can help them really easily and some of the statistic shocked me. That’s why I put more than 5 statistics to make sure others’ also know what’s going on with the world hunger.
In my conclusion, this project was meaningful for me and I appreciate to Ms. Dianne, who gave this project to us. I hope there will be one more meaningful project for us soon. I enjoyed and learnt so many things during this project. “EAT TO LIVE, NOT LIVE TO EAT”

Blogging Reflection XD
First of all, it was really nice thing that I started blogging due to ESL class!! Although, I started because of my grades and all that in the beginning, now, I’m really enjoying and having extremely fun in uploading and sharing thing that I thought or experienced. Also, I can share what I have or what I want to share with my lovely friends with various nationalities. I believe Ms. Dianne introduced blogs to the other students including me, so maybe we can aware more about the technology around us and put more efforts onto our learning experiences.
At first, I thought blogging would be hard for me because blog is a Web site that share or upload things that I want individually. Unsurprisingly, I was too lazy to organize my blog at first. However, when I got used to it and tried my best on blogging, it was actually simple and easy. Mostly, I learnt to put comments on people’s thought and communicate or share ideas nicely and gentle with them about the topic that they want to share.
Additionally, I enjoyed sharing my favorite videos, pictures and songs that I love and introduce myself and express my own blog to my new friends. For me, I think it’s a great thing that I can publish my own thoughts and share with people, listen to their comments about their thoughts. I want to make more new friends with this blog and also, I want to make my blog the most popular blog in the site, Blogger.
My favorite part of my blog is the way that I can easily open and see my friends’ blog and look and think of my friends’ thought or experiences together. Surprisingly, I’m really enjoying and it could be really memorable in my life that I made my own blog for the first time for my English improving. Happy Blogging Guys!!!

Blogging For The First Time!! XD
Yo!! My name is Jae Seung and I am a student at Sinarmas World Academy. And I would like to introduce myself. I'm from South Korea and Im really proud of my fantastic and awesome country. I think the best person that I can be proud of is......~* PARK JI SUNG *~!! He is like a BEST Asian soccer player.
OKay~ First, I am South Korean, but Im living in Indonesia now. Its all because of my study!! Besides, I love sports like soccer and basketball and thats the only reason Im joining both teams in our school. Also, I love music!! I always listen to the Korean songs~ English songs are nice too, but I prefer Korean songs, because for me, its easier to understand the feeling of the singer and the writer. My favorite subjects in my school are P.E of course and Mathematics, because its interesting and enjoyable!! Simple is that. > . <
You know what?? haha..** I watched movie every sunday with my church friends usually in Senayan City or Senayan Plaza. In addition, there is one movie that gave me a very strong impression that was came out last year, which is 2010.THE MOVIE IS~~~INCEPTION!!! It was just AWESOME~ Surprisingly, I don't really like to watch TV. However, I really love to play computer games, which are Starcraft and Warcraft. Those are my favorite games.^ ^ Since, I am Here to study and go to the great university that I want, WE NEED TO STUDY HARD!! STUDY TIME GUYS!! LETS ROCK & ROLL!! PLease Comment On MY POST!!
